November 6, 2013

I stopped off at Metcalfes by West Towne on the way home.  I approached this woman and talked to her for a bit.  I found out that she works in project management.  We talked for a bit about being social and meeting people that way.  She was very friendly.  I thought about asking her for her number, but ultimately I didn't.  I wasn't that motivated to ask.

I approached a woman in HyVee.  I found out that she is a scientist, but she really didn't tell me what she did.  When I asked her to explain, she said to google it, because she's busy.

I don't remember her name, and I don't feel bad about that, because someone with that kind of miserable personality doesn't deserve to have their name remembered.

November 3, 2013

I approached a woman at HyVee and I could see that she was kinda taken aback.  So I mentioned that and she said it was weird for a random person to just come up to her and start having a conversation.  So I said to her, "it is weird, but should it really be weird for people to be friendly to each other?  And what does that say about our society when being friendly is weird?"  She brushed that off.  However, she did soften enough so that I could have a conversation with her.  I found out that she works in IT.  Normally, I would relate to that and talk about it, but this conversation was so labored because she just wasn't willing to go with it.  When that happens, the conversation basically just turns into a lot of work to maintain it.

I met two women at Barnes & Noble today.  The first one, I tried talking to, but she seemed really shy and just kinda walked away.

The second one I had a really great conversation with.  I found out that she's a lawyer and talked to her for awhile about that and about the challenge and meeting new people and things like that.  We probably talked for 10-15 minutes in the store.
