I did 2 approaches today. The first one was at Barnes & Noble. There weren't many people there, so I talked to this older blond woman. I introduced myself and she seemed like she was taken aback. She told me her name and then I asked her what she does. She said she's not interested. So I asked her: "Not interested in what, conversation?" She said yeah. I said, okay then.
The second approach was later that evening at HyVee. I talked to a woman that's a nurse. We talked for a bit, but from her body language I could see that she was trying to go, so I let her go.
Not a banner day for talking to people, but that happens sometimes.
That first woman was a total witch. You should have responded with something like "Well, that's good because I don't like to have conversations with rude miserable people anyway." and walked away after her answer of "Yeah" .
