Only did two approaches today. I was focused more on getting supplies for a new art project I want to work on.
My first approach was at Barnes and Noble. I went with the phrase: "you look elegant." The woman seemed surprised that I would say that to her and said thank you. I asked her what she did, and she said she's a student, studying actuarial science. This deals with probability, relating to the insurance industry. We talked a bit about being math nerds, since I also studied math in college. I found out that she likes movies and reading. I told her that she was really easy to talk to and asked her to put her number in my phone so that we could talk again. I got her number and then talked with her a little big longer, then said goodbye.
My second approach was at HyVee. I looked around for a woman that I could actually use that line on and not seem like I was being sarcastic. I saw a woman that actually looked elegant, so I approached her. I found out that she's an anchor for a local news station. I won't say which one, because I don't want to reveal any identifying details about the women I approach. She was nice, but was in a rush to get back to the station, so we didn't have long to talk.
