Day 2

My phrase  for today is "you're gorgeous!"

On the way home from work, I stopped off at Metcalfe's by West Towne.  I walked around for a bit, but there wasn't really anyone to approach.  I paid for my stuff and left.

I stopped off at the HyVee before I went home and walked around a bit.  I saw a nice-looking woman walking down the aisle, so I said "excuse me" and delivered my opener.  Right away she said "Thank you, but I have a boyfriend."  I just brushed it off, saying: "that's cool, I just like meeting new people."  She told me that she works for a lobbying firm.  We talked about her work, and how she got to go to Washington DC and meet some of the politicians there.  Then she said she had to go and excused herself.

I came home and made dinner, then went to Hilldale.  I didn't see anyone to approach while walking around the mall part, so I made my way over to Target.  I saw a few different women that I could approach, so I decided to make a round, before I committed to a woman.  While doing this, I saw this one woman that I thought about approaching, but I decided against it, as I was still making my rounds.  I started back at the beginning, but now all of the women that I saw that I could approach were gone.  So I continued to walk around.  I saw the one woman again, but I decided again not to approach and kept looking.  My options were growing slim, though.  I wandered around for a bit, growing more frustrated, as I didn't see anyone that I could approach. I was walking through the section that has stuff for showers and bathroom, when I saw the woman again.  I decided this time to go for it this time.  Since I had seen her a few times already, and she'd probably seen me too, I decided to mention that.  I said that I wasn't going to do this, but I decided I just had to come talk to her and find out more about her.  So I asked her what she does, and she told me she was a nurse.  We talked about that for a bit, then she asked me what I do.  We talked about biking, and how neither of us had gone around Lake Monona this year.  She told me she was in the process of moving, and was a little tired from that.  We got on the subject of Orlando and the Disney theme parks and some older guy jumped into our conversation, talking about how it was a swamp before Disney built the parks.  That could have derailed my conversation with the woman, but I didn't let that happen.  When it seemed like the natural point to exit the conversation, I told her that she seemed really nice and that I felt really at ease and comfortable talking to her and that I'd like to talk to her again.  I had her program her number into my phone.  This also helped me out, because I had forgotten her name.  Hey, I was thinking about where I wanted the conversation to go.  I need to really try harder to remember the name, because that's happened to me a few times.  Then, after she programmed her number in, I talked with her a little bit longer.  She asked me what I was getting at Target, so we talked about that.  Then I said that it looks like she was getting stuff for the new apartment.  We talked for a few more minutes, then said goodbye and went our separate ways.

All-in-all this was a pretty good day.  Getting a number this early in the month is a good way to start.  Especially considering that this is the first day that I was really able to try.  Yesterday, I was basically just trying to get one in, since I didn't have much time.
