With today taken care of, I successfully made it through my on-call week while still getting my challenge taken care of. Two approaches for today:
The first one was at Metcalfe's at West Town (yes, I know, broken record, but again, limited time = no time to be cute and experiment. Stick with what works!) She was at a display giving free samples of wine. I said hello and she asked if I wanted a sample. I told her I was too young to drink. Then I laughed it off and started talking to her about the wine. She seemed friendly, so I asked her to tell me about her. I found out that she's originally from Chicago and she likes country music. An interesting combination, no doubt. She was telling me how she likes going to country concerts and how there's one coming up soon. I said to her: "you should invite me to go with you." At that point she said: "well, we'd have to go with my boyfriend." I didn't let it phase me, I just replied: "well, we could get a big group together and go." The conversation wasn't really going anywhere after that, so I said goodbye and went on my way.
The second one was at HyVee (yes, I know... I know...) I walked around for a bit, then I saw this woman wearing a shirt that said "Pensacola, Florida" on it. I remarked on the shirt (so I guess I like your shirt was my phrase for today.) I asked her if she was from Pensacola, but she said she was just visiting a friend there. We talked about that for a bit, then I asked her to tell me about herself. She works as a daycare teacher, which she's been doing for about 6 years. She seemed like such a sweetheart, a woman after my own heart. She moved to Madison back in October and is still trying to see more of the town. I asked her if she bikes and/or runs and she said she's trying to get into it. I figured that was a good time to mention that I have a running group. We talked about that for a bit, along with biking around town as a good way to explore. She was really easy to talk to, and super sweet. I asked her to put her number in my phone so we could talk again. This was a great conversation. She's the kind of girl I want to find, sweet and kind. Just a pleasure to talk to and be around (in the few minutes that I was around her.)
